Training Course – day 5 / Kupała Night

Kupała Night – it is a Slavic holiday associated with the summer solstice of the Sun, celebrated during the shortest night of the year, which falls around June 21-22. In the past, Kupała Night was associated with numerous rituals and fortune-telling. The most common custom was for virgins to braid flower and herb wreaths. Then a special ceremony was held, during which they sang and danced, and the girls' wreaths were set on fire and released into the water. Then the boys had to fish out the wreaths from the water and pair up with the owners of wreaths.
And the Kupala Night happened during our stay in Kołatek – we could not be indifferent to the tradition! We prepared wreaths together, put on make-up … and in the evening we let the wreaths on the water, expressing our dreams in our minds!
